Stamping with Transparency

Hello friends!
I am sharing my take on using transparency.

How did I come up with the design? It all started with the small stamped, gold-embossed and water-colored butterfly.... I didn't know what to do with it at first. A few days later, I decided to add the white-embossed acetate over it. This stamp set Butterfly Trio comes in 3 sizes and that is a huge plus.

Please note that I used the acetate from the stamp package. It is not the fancy kind of acetate. I wish I have some heat resistant acetate like this one (see link at the end of post), but I don't. I resorted to the packaging that comes with the stamp set. It it rather thin and is not the greatest for this purpose ( I warped two of them!).  It's great for recycling since you come across with so many acetate from stamp sets anyway. I used the one that worked (obviously) and made it into a card. The key is to move super FAST when you heat set the embossing on acetate.

Thanks

The style of these three butterflies is simple yet detailed enough to add some extra wow factor. I also wanted "something" for the background. This Flowers All Around seems like a good choice for the simple background.

To keep it up a notch, I stamped the sentiment with two types of inks (Delicata and dye ink) with the help of MISTI. The transparency of the butterfly adds that airiness to the design.
I love how this turned out.

My take-away from this card? Allow yourself to experiment with your stamps and save/use the scraps for later. When the inspiration strikes, you are all set to go and ready to take flight, just like the butterfly.
Thanks for stopping by!

fabulous Virginia. I was lucky enough to get a few boxes of transparency's that were used for overhead projectors. But don't use it much. I love the look you achieved with this card.
