It's been a while since I played Tuesday Trigger (Val de Victorian). When I first saw the trigger photo, I had no idea how to go about it. I happen to miss playing with alcohol inks and then I thought...why not combine the two?
Card #1

The colors seemed to come out a tad too bright? So I started to wonder if I can make a softer and more subdue version....

I re-did another card (yes, you call me obsessed!!) with the combination of dye inks and chalk inks. The sentiment and ornate borders (at the bottom) are SRM Stickers. I basically used the back of a clear rectangular stamp to create the color blocks and then stamped the house over. The roof was stamped on white card stock and then pop dots were added for extra dimension. The card was not hard to make, but it did take me a few trials and errors to get it "right".
Card #2

So my inquisitive mind likes to know....which version do you like better!?
Card #2

So my inquisitive mind likes to know....which version do you like better!?
A. the alcohol one (card#1)
B. the muted one (card #2)
C. all of the above
D. neither!
edited note:
Virginia: I think I like the answer A better---it's so ME!
Dr. John: My answer would be A! First impressions are important. Card #1 drew my attention, then I looked at the details. The colors really pop! Love love love the alcohol inks and the sentiment is DARLING (said it sarcastically). I know what a good card design is when I see it!

Oh my! I'm so in love with the first one with it's bright washed look! Totally fabulous! Really must try this technique! How about a video on it??? I need to see you in action!
I select C, both cards are fabulous! I love the bright color pop of the first one and the color blocking on the second one is really fun!
Great post, V.
My answer is C. I love them both, Virginia! The brightness of the first one is fabulous and love those color blocks - I always forget about that technique - it turned out wonderfully with your cute house! Good luck in the challenge! :)
Both gorgeous but the first one is my fav.
I definitely say C! All of the above! Both are gorgeous and love your take on the Trigger :)
C! both are delightful Virginia. Both awesome in their own ways. I must admit I am drawn to A though. The bright colours are wonderful
Hi virginia, Both of these cards are wonderful, so I pick "C" All of the above. I love the bright colors of A and the soft colors of B. Awesome work.
They are both beautiful! I personally like A better for the bright colors. Not that I don't like card B, it's beautiful too! To me A is more modern and edgy while B is more retro.
I think I have to go with All of the Above too! Great cards
I love them both, but A for sure is awesome! I love the bright colors!
Both are gorgeous, Virginia! If I had to choose, I'd choose the second. The slightly muted colors are so me :)
A - like it much better than B. Maybe I should start playing with my alkohol inks, too....They are drying up in my closet. Thanks for the inspiration.
Both cards are great but I love the bold colours of A!
Here is one thing I know about Virginia Lu, she likes her alcohol! Ha ha! Seriously I'm loving the alcohol one, I think it's perfect. Brighter is better, great work!
I really like the brightness of card A! Who couldn't feel happy receiving this card.
I do love it when you play with your inks. These card look great.
Hugs~
The first version is my fav...the composition is better.
Such a pretty house!!! LOOOOOOOVE the bright colors, Virginia!!!
I also love the second card! FAB!
Absolutely love the first card - I like the muted tones, but LOVE the brighter striped colors!
I like them both VL! Interesting how changing it up slightly makes it look like a different card! Well done!
They are both great, but I like A better. It is beautiful!
I love the first (I am an 80's bright bright girlie)...but the second is very cool and unique. So both for my vote! I love the bits of bling scattered about too~
Definitely ALL OF THE ABOVE! Very different, but both beautiful in their own way!
OK, Virginia here's my two cents worth :)
I pick C... I truly love them both, but find the second card has drawn me in a bit more because of the lighter shades and the block coloring.
A because it has the 3 Bs'
* Bold
* Bright
* Beautiful
Hugs~
Both amazing! A looks like a winner to me! So creative to put all the colours together like that!
Your cards are similar, yet still so different! I love them both for different reasons :)
I LOVE what you do with alcohol inks! It's always gorgeous! I think you should have a project with your favorite color combos because they are always gorgeous! A colorful lady you are :)
I'm surprised you didn't use some of your travel photos to jump off of from this photo! When I first saw I thought of your pics!
I love 'em both!! The first one really tugs at my heart though:). You are so good with alcohol inks!
I vote for the first one, I've got to try those alchohol inks, I have a bunch on my shelf. Barb
My favorite is card #1! I love the striped house! Although I do really like the way you did the colors on the other house too! :>
Like 'em both, but I love pastels, so I'll vote for #2.
I loveeee #2 :D I like the muted colors more, and I have a thing for stripes!
A for me! I love those vibrant stripes. How lucky you are to have a resident card critic ;)
Hahaha, I love that Dr. John is so detailed in his critiques, what a supportive guy you have!! So if I was taking a test, I would have to select answer C, but I would write in that I especially like the first one with its bright, whimsical colors. The second one is pretty darn cool too with the marker technique you used.
Wonderful colors, coloring and use of the Trigger!
well both are fab but i love the bright bold colors of card 1 :)
Okay I was drawn to A because of the color. It is vibrant! Great technique!
Great cards, Virginia! I like the brightness of the first one but I love the color blocks on the second one, and the stripes on the background! Great job!
you are amazing with bright colors, girl! bother cards are beautiful but i do like A a little more. simply because yes, it's so YOU!
Both--they're too different and each one captures a different sense of the Trigger. Looks like you had fun friend!
Love your idea for the Trigger, V!!
I'll go with "A", also! I like the saturated colors. Neat card!
I LOVE A, just because of the FUN colors and the stamped ground!! I really like the over all FEEL!! THey are both AWESOME though!! THANKS for sharing and have a FABULOUS WEEK!! =)
Glad I came here and not just Flickr. Two great cards. Love the first cuz I happen to love bold in contrast with white. But have to commend your "color blocking" of the house on the second. And the sloped lines (reference to the Streets of San Francisco?!?) are clever too.
Hate to pick one over the other, but I love A the best!!!
I'm a fan of A. It's brighter :) Also, the diagonal line in the other one is slightly throwing me off... (says the engineer)
Also also, I hope Dr. John really said love three times in a row,
Congrats on being chosen as Tuesday Trigger Target, Virginia! Well deserved for these fun bright and muted cards!
Congrats on your TT win, Virginia!
Great cards for this challenge :o)
Yay, so happy to see you on the Winner list, Virginia!!! Really loved these cards, just like everyone else does.
Congratulations on being a Tuesday Trigger winner at Moxie Fab World. Love the funky sidewalks and both colour palettes!
Yay, Virginia! Congrats on your Trigger win! Love both versions, but the first card is simply amazing!
This is beautiful Virginia! I love the bright colors on the first one! I actually like it better than the 2nd one.
