Tuesday Trigger

Yay, Tuesday Trigger is back! I love love the colors about this gorgeous photo--A Plate of Pretty Poppies. It inspired me to get my Poppy Flower stamps out. I have this Hero Arts set called Delicate Blossoms for a few months now and this is my first time using it!!
I decided to emboss the flowers ( clear-embossing for the orange/yellow poppies, red-embossing for the red poppies) and then colored them with the Distress Inks. I re-arranged the poppies a bit to simulate the design from the Trigger photo.
This was my first card.
Sennding you lots of hugs
And then I still have some flowers left from the first card, so I made a second card!
 Just saying hello
So I would love to know which one you like better?
Poppy Flowers
The one on the left? Or right? I think the cards (at least the left one does!!) qualifies for the Moxie Fab World Hello card challenge (see here).  Thanks so much for stopping by! I'll be back tomorrow for the "How I Stretch My Stamps" (series 3)!!

edited note: About the distress inks, some of you asked why and how I used the distress inks in these two cards. I first embossed the flowers and the used the distress applicator to color the flower (by sponging from outside toward center) with two colors of inks. The distress inks blend rather well and you can achieve vibrant colors without much effort in coloring the details.

Great cards for the trigger! The coloring is beautiful. The first is my fav.

These are both spectacular! I love the dimension on the flowers! If I had to pick, I'd choose the one on the left just because of the layout preference, but I'm I awe of you, Virginia!

I can honestly say that I wouldn't be able to choose!
They're just gems Virginia and I love these colors!

Beautiful texture with the embossing. I like them both, but I am inclined to say the one on the left is my fav because I like the height and boldness of the top flower. It catches my eye, and brings me down the grouping of flowers to the sentiment. Gorgeous blooms, Virginia!

Both cards are gorgeous. I do like the second one best though. How did you colour the poppies? The orange ones are so lovely.

Gorgeous both of them! Do I have to choose? No way! Love them both, the flowers are striking against the white background.

I love them both too, V! Such pretty coloring! If I had to choose, it would be the second one - I just love the way you placed your flowers against the leaves and vines to simulate the poppies on the plate - so clever! :)

Oh my word. Can you send them both to me? I'm in love. Think I need this HA set...it is stunning!! Loved them both, but am head over heels on the second one.

Both are stunning Virginia! But if I were to choose I'd have to say I love the unexpectedness of the second one!!

Gorgeous cards! The 1st one is my fave.

I vote for the one on the right - because it simulates the flowers on the plate. Beautiful work, V!

These colorful flowers just "pop" right off the card with beauty Virginia!

I have a question. How or why did you add the distress inks? I'd expect them to rub off when stamped on something slick like an embossed image. Is this what makes the flowers have a little shading?

Thanks so much for your kind comments, everyone!
To Jocelyn and Lynda: I first embossed the flowers and the used the distress applicator to color the flower (by sponging from outside toward center) with two colors of inks. The distress inks blend rather well and you can achieve vibrant colors without much effort in coloring the details. Once I finished blending the colors, I cut out the flower and used pop dots for the dimension and added them to the card. Hope this answers to your questions!

Thanks for replying! I'm anxious to try that.

Oh WOW - they are both gorgeous and so very different! I think I like the one on the right because I LOVE images in the corner. I think I tend to do that more myself. Great take on the photo inspiration! Hugs, Marcy

Both are such great takes on the trigger, V! Love the unique way you used the background with the poppies on the right one especially. Great use of inks and white spaces, too.
