A Layout Based on Sketch

This is my 2nd post today. For CAS-ual Fridays Challenge, please see here.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's been a few weeks since I made a layout. When I saw this sketch over Basic Grey's Blog, I was inspired to make a layout with my son David's photos.
 you make me smile
The photo on the left was taken in Universal Studio, Florida in Feb. 2012. David was enjoying the moment with the huge turkey leg. The photo on the right was taken in front of Lake Louise, Alberta last August. Since David loves birds, I used a lot of birdies in this layout.
The Hero Arts/Sizzix combo Bold Pop Designs makes it really easy to create the birdie's cutout. I changed the flower into a sun by replacing the center with a larger circle. In order to use what I already have, I managed to use my very first pack of Basic Grey paper. I tried not to make it too flowery and frilly (David complained that my previous one was a bit too girly), so I utilize something more neutral and incorporate geometric shape (my latest fav-hexagons).  My go-to sentiments/journaling are SRM Stickers.
And just in case you are interested, here is David's last cello recital this past Sunday (sniff, sniff) with his teacher Mark and accompanist Liz.  David vowed to continue...
 David began his love affair with cello since he was in Grade 1. When David started cello, there was barely a chair that will fit for him and his cello. He was SO tiny! Over the years, I took him to the numerous cello lessons, recitals and practices (along with piano lessons, too). David said that playing cello (and piano) has enriched his life--so true! But with the start of his university this fall, we make him he decided that he will need to focus on his university education. David will be studying Nano Technology in one of Canada's top universities and hopefully he can join the university orchestra to keep himself happy. Way to go , David!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Love this LO, Virginia! So bright and cheery! And David has the best smile!!
Not sure, but... it may be considered cruel and unusual punishment to have those little birdies sitting on the page watching David eat that giant turkey leg!! Ha ha! :)
I love that sunshine to go with David's bright smile. Hubby has to fix the sound on our computer, so I'll have to come back later to listen. I have no doubt that David will thrive. I'm beaming with pride, and he's not even my kid!
I've got to tell you, I went to school for engineering, but I joined the choir because I like to sing and I became a resident assistant because I like to host events. I made it through engineering and got a great job, but most of my friends are straight from resident assistant world and choir world - our personalities mesh better.
